WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

(f)route is a social enterprise developing, packaging and marketing a TRAIL of foraged FRUIT,  slow ART, GOOD food, BESPOKE accommodation and wild-ish experiences in East Gippsland.

Designed and created to focus us all on niche tourism markets – the (f)route team is ready to  hit the road - to connect the (f)route BRAND with local businesses and new ideas.

After three years of community breakfasts, business planning, and report writing, (f)route is now supported by Regional Development Victoria to find, package - and sell - a series of  (f)route tours and itineraries to the responsible  & cultural tourism ‘niche’.

(f)route is calling for expressions of interest from  creative entrepreneurs, local producers, makers, fruit growers, workshop leaders, community/kitchen gardens, sustainability leaders, story tellers, tour leaders, niche gourmet suppliers, and unique accommodation providers – established or emerging -   that could become part of the (f)route experience.

“If this sounds like you, we need to meet, put you ‘on the (f)route Map’, and then sell you to the world – online, in print, and at our new CBD Travel Bureau – (f)routeLAND."

Initially (f)route Inc. will be partnering with existing operators to offer (f)route-branded experiences to its growing audience.

Phase 2 will see the organisation developing its own (f)route TOURS and (f)route CAMPS as a social enterprise – which means employing local operators, using local produce, and reinvesting all profits back to the local community.

The (f)route team will be travelling across the region throughout November to meet individuals, businesses and organisations  willing to collaborate to deliver an agreed philosophy of service, creativity and sustainability – and thus offer a unique travel experience under the (f)route brand.

Contact Andrea Lane or Neil Smith to find out how to register your interest and make a date.

‘(f)route has worked long and hard across most communities in East Gippsland, to create a brand that captures a younger, creative, vibrant, environmentally friendly voice. We believe we potentially have a tourism product that is being sought by well-educated, experience-seeking travellers who want to know more about authentic local culture and to actively participate in creating and documenting their journey.

(f)route’s role is to develop both the product offering - and the appropriate audience for this niche experience.

During November 2013 - we’ll be having our first (f)route brand development meetings:

4 & 5 November – we’ll be heading to Mallacoota
11 & 12 November – we’ll be heading to Swifts Creek
18 & 19 November  - we’ll be working in Nicholson & Nungurner area

With more to come - please contact us if you have an idea you'd like to discuss.

(f)routeLAND opens at Docklands

(f)route has opened its own artist-made travel bureau at Docklands.
We call it (f)routeLAND.
You'll find us online at frouteLAND.com.au

Friday, August 16, 2013

(f)routeLAND launches at Docklands Spaces.

(f)route CAKES, (f)route CARTs & a social enterprise (in the making). An artist-made, community-owned travel bureau for artists and fruitists. If you love having regional places to visit, and having orchards & fruit trees, worry about bees, and like conversations about maps... we 'R' u.

(f)route is from East Gippsland. From Mallacoota - Nungurner - Swifts Creek – Tubbut - and all those places in between.

Come and say hello. Sit. And eat and talk and do. (Ride your bike!).

(f)route is all about creating ‘a trail’ of art and fruit in East Gippsland. You know... artists, fruitists, creating maps, planning itineraries, finding fruit, making cider, seeing galleries and being a part of the big conversations about sustainability and creativity.
(f)route has steadily become an artist-made ‘brand’ for promoting the groovier, creative underbelly of East Gippsland – the cultural experiences that are not always easy to find in big open spaces and small communities.

Our brand new (f)routeLAND space is the CBD-based ‘travel bureau’ that will tell the world about (f)route. Thanks to the Docklands Spaces/Renew Australia initiative we’ve been able to take up an unused retail space on a temporary lease for a peppercorn rent. (But it’s still bloody hard work!)

Yes, it’s an experiment in CBD life – offering workshops about bees and apples and things in a very different place, showing art that never gets seen by city folk, trialling QR Codes and PayPal as new solutions for remote artists – extending our networks across Victoria and working with new partners who care about regional Victoria.

(f)routeLAND – located opposite Harbour Town at Docklands – opens its doors at 10am on Saturday 31 August and we hope you’ll make your way there to join us – and find out more.
We’ll be sharing our luscious (f)route CAKES & coffee - and offering oranges, direct from the Bruthen Orange Fair.

Local and imported artists will be collaborating on site to create ephemeral works that reflect the (f)route ethos – incorporating mapping, found objects, textiles, beeswax, honey and the like.
Over the last 6 months (f)route has been part of the Social Traders ‘Crunch’ program to develop a plan for its social enterprise to drive ethical economic development in regional locations, through tourism. (f)route has just been funded by Regional Development Victoria to continue this marketing and branding development. The opening of (f)routeLAND will be a small celebration of our long and fruitful journey.

Supported by the Regional Arts Fund, through Regional Arts Victoria

(f)route goes to Docklands

Yes! (f)route - the artist made Travel Bureau - has been offered a space at Docklands.
This is our most exciting breakthrough yet. Time for a Melbourne adventure, showing off the things we've discovered and created and imagined. Thank heavens for the Dockland Spaces / Renew Australia / Marcus Westbury movement that sees the world the way we do! (or, um, vice versa).
