Awesome-istic (f)route

We had this lovely story published today at http://www.awesome-istic.com/#/andreajosie/

(f)route

/fruːt/

noun
  1. a social enterprise that values art, fruit, good travel, environment, slow conversations and regional communities.
  2. a loose amalgamation of artists and growers and environmentalists and food people, with the philosophy to always err on the side of generosity.
  3. an organization that “curates local cultural experiences worth travelling for” and aims to keep people optimistic, to create change and not just accept the status quo.
Synonyms: see Awesome-istic.
(f)route is all of the above, and it’s also much more than that. The definition of (f)route, like any art, can be both physical and ephemeral and it certainly doesn’t fit in any one box or wordy paragraph. But here’s what I’ve got for you:
(f)route is an organization working to broaden the perception of the role art plays in society. It recognizes artists and the work they create as an essential and valuable asset to the social fabric of a community and looks to connect people to both (the artwork and the art-makers) through firsthand experience. Created by a group of artists with common interests in fruit, environment and travel, the collective also enables independent artists in East Gippsland to create local enterprise so they can become financially secure.

Preserving Memories - with (f)route

Thanks Anne Thoday - it was great to be at the Northcote Town Hall tonight with you. Such a great meeting of like-minds. The (f)route CART was such a big hit - your preserving team looked fantastic and we have a jar of pickled pears to take home  Your publicity efforts were AMAZING - and everyone I spoke to can't wait to come to (f)routeville next year. Thanks for the opportunity to spread the (f)route Travel Bureau word!

ps- the (f)route CART will be in action at the Northcote Town Hall all week - with some preserving sessions around lunch times. Please send us photos if you take some good ones!
I don't think we've ever taken the ultimate (f)route CART photo!

(f)route GATHERING - 4 MAY @ SWAN REACH

A (f)route GATHERING: SUNDAY 4 MAY : SWAN REACH.

*CAMPSTER* & SOCIAL ENTERPRISE PLANNING SESSION
Midday-5pm, Sunday 4 May
Kate Shone’s Studio - 2021 Princes Hwy, Swan Reach.

(f)route Inc has a Board that meets 4 times a year – twice in Melb, twice in East Gippsland ( to deal with most of the potentially boring things.)

Things have blossomed in recent weeks and we now need to form a couple of active working groups to do the exciting stuff - to build our *CAMPSTER* and get this Glamping /Travel Bureau business up and running. (And keep (f)routeville and other projects running too).

There is much work to be done – many submissions to be written, and projects to be delivered. SO … we need a few roundtable sessions to get us all up to speed.

Our first (f)route GATHERING is at Kate Shone’s Studio - 2021 Princes Hwy, Swan Reach. Midday – 5pm, Sunday 4 May 2014.

Please SAVE THE DATE and plan to be there. Agenda coming.
You can stay all day – or come to the bits you need to hear.

We will finish up with a shared dinner.
